Unfortunately, we have been forced to register for VAT from today. We will do our best to limit the impact as far as possible, but there will, inevitably, be some increase on prices for sales within the EU.

The December 2009 LCData Update is now available. This brings London Control fully up-to-date to AIRAC 13/2009 (17 December 2009), and includes all the airspace and other changes up to that date.

The only major airspace change has been around Belfast, so this doesn't directly affect the London FIR, but this issue contains lots of minor changes that have taken place since the last update in March. This includes things like redesignation of the runways at Stansted and London City, lots of renamed airways and some frequency and standing agreement changes. As usual, we've also added to the flight plan database, including the first Air France A380 schedule, and British Airways' new A318 route from London City to New York.

The Update CD includes the latest version of the Scottish FIR, updated to AIRAC 10/2009.

For more information, please visit the Updates page.

If you would like to purchase the Update, please go to the buy now page.

By the way, in order to save paper, we've stopped sending out a hard copy of the update changes. If you want to see or print this, open the Readme.pdf file on the CD-ROM.

Unfortunately, we have again decided not to release an update this quarter. There have been few changes to the London FIR data over the last few months, and we've been very busy with real-world work, so it's left no time to put an update together this month. I hope people don't feel too disappointed, but we do intend to bundle everything up and issue a bumper update in December.

10 June 2009

As there have been very few changes to the London FIR in the past three months, we have decided not to issue an update for June 2009. (The only real changes have been the renaming of a couple of airways, so we'll hold these over until next time.)

However, the Scottish FIR has been updated to AIRAC 6/2009, once again courtesy of Dave Moss, and is available for free download from our website. Please go to the Scottish FIR page for more details.

The Scottish FIR has now been updated to AIRAC 3/2009, once again courtesy of Dave Moss, and is available for download from our website. Please go to the Scottish FIR page for more details.

24 March 2009

The March 2009 LCData Update is now available. This brings London Control fully up-to-date to AIRAC 3/2009 (12 March 2009), and includes all the airspace and other changes up to that date.

This issue includes a couple of major changes in the London FIR. A new sector has been added to the London Upper Suite (Sector 24) and controlled airspace has been extended to the east of Daventry (the N601 extension).

We've also expanded our coverage of regional airports by adding Doncaster Sheffield.

The Update CD includes the latest version of the Scottish FIR data, also updated to AIRAC 3/2009. This now includes Belfast approach.

For more information, please visit the Updates page.

If you would like to purchase the Update, please go to the buy now page.

Unfortunately the version 1.4.3 patch that was issued recently included a small bug that stopped Germany Radar from running properly. We have now fixed this and a new patch is now available.

To download the patch, or to find out more about it, go to the version 1.4.3.2 download page.

24 January 2009

The Scottish FIR has now been updated to AIRAC 13/2008, once again courtesy of Dave Moss, and is available for download from our website. Please go to the Scottish FIR page for more details.

7 December 2008

The December 2008 LCData Update is now available. This brings London Control fully up-to-date to AIRAC 13/2008 (18 December 2008), and includes all the airspace and other changes up to that date.

This issue includes various changes around the London FIR, including a new control area around Doncaster Sheffield Airport, and modified routes in the north of England. The flight plan database has been expanded with the addition of over 600 new flight plans, although we have lost quite a few airlines recently, such as Futura and XLA, and these have been removed. On the plus side, we have the new Emirates A380 services to Heathrow and New York.

We've also expanded our coverage of regional airports still further and included approach control for Bournemouth, Southampton and Isle of Man. Plus we've made some changes to Cardiff and Bristol, so that they operate more realistically.

There is a new version of the software on the CD (version 1.4.2) that includes a few new features, various bug fixes and some performance improvements. (This will be made available as a patch in due course.)

The Update CD includes the latest version of the Scottish FIR data, also updated to AIRAC 13/2008. There is also a new version of the Scottish Sector Information Manual that includes updated maps of all the ScACC sectors. On top of all that, you'll find the demo version of Germany Radar on the CD, so you can try out a couple of their sectors too!

For more information, please visit the Updates page.

11 September 2008

Once again, as happened at this time last year, we have decided NOT to issue an LCData Update for September 2008. The main reason for this is that we've been very busy with work in the real ATC world over the past few months and we just don't have the time to do the update justice. Although there have been a few changes to UK airspace in the past three months (the most notable being a new control area around Doncaster/Sheffield Airport), we don't want to publish an update that only contains the bare minimum of change. We thought it would be better to wait for another three months, to make the update worthwhile.

We no longer have any subscribers for the updates, so normal service will be resumed in December. The June 2008 update continues to be available for anyone who wants to catch up with the previous set of changes.

Unfortunately our forum is now under constant bombardment from spoof users trying to register and it is now affecting our ability to run the forum successfully. The problem is now so bad that we have new users trying to register at the rate of several per minute, all through the day and night.

Because the php bulletin board software is so insecure there is not much we can do about this until we can migrate the forum to something better. Unfortunately this will take some time. At the moment our only defence is to block offending IP addresses from accessing the forum. As a consequence, the list of blocked addresses is growing and growing, so if any genuine users have difficulty accessing the forum please let us know and we will do our best to rectify the situation.

We are also finding that we have to shut the forum at times - particularly at night - as we just can't keep up with the volume of hits that we have. Although the spoof users can't post messages, they do frequently try to advertise extremely unsavoury websites, and we are determined not to allow the London Control forum to degenerate in this way.

As the problem is now so widespread, we assume the spoof users are originating from some virus-driven robot that has, in the last week or so, infected a high proportion of the PCs around the world. Presumably this robot looks for phpBB forums to blast and then keeps on going until it's either banned or removed from the infected machine.

We are very pleased to announce that AviaScan in Germany have produced a data package covering all of the German FIRs. This fantastic add-on for London Control covers the en-route and approach sectors of Bremen, Langen, Munich, Karlsruhe and Maastricht ATC centres. These include 118 sectors that can be actively controlled, 125 aerodromes and airfields, more than 12,000 flights and 3,500 waypoints and fixes.

The package includes a 368 page Sector Information Manual, a German-language version of the London Control User Guide, and full run-time help.

For more information visit AviaScan's website, at: www.aviascan.de

The data has been produced with the full co-operation of DFS - Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH, the German ATC service provider.

We have completed the revamp of our products and are pleased to announce that London Control now includes the voice recognition function as part of the basic software. This means that it is no longer necessary to purchase LCVoice as a separate add-on. While we have adjusted the price slightly to take account of this change, the new price of £34.95 represents a considerable saving over the combined cost of the original products.

The new version 1.4 software also includes a few new functions and bug fixes. Combining the voice recognition into the main software should also resolve some of the problems that people have experienced when trying to install and run LCVoice under Windows Vista.

For existing customers, we will be issuing a patch of the version 1.4 software shortly.

4 April 2007

The latest security update for Windows XP, which Microsoft have released today (KB925902), seems to cause London Control to cease working. It results in an error which begins, "The system DLL user32.dll was relocated in memory."

This is a fault in the Microsoft-supplied user32.dll file, which has been replaced with a new version.

There is a solution available on the Microsoft website, which can be found here: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=925902

You will need to follow the link under the heading of "Known Issues" (reference 935448) which takes you to here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935448/

Although this latter page relates to problems with the Realtek HD Audio Control Panel, it also applies to London Control (and presumably other applications). Follow the instructions on this page and download the 935448 package under the heading of "Resolution". Follow the on-screen instructions.

Despite the fact that we do not officially support Windows Vista, our customers inform us that it is possible to successfully install and run both London Control and LCVoice on Vista. This can be done by disabling UAC (User Account Control) when installing the programs and entering the serial numbers. UAC can be enabled again once this has been done.

To disable UAC using the Control Panel:

1 Open the Control Panel.
2 Under User Account and Family settings, click the Add or remove user account option.
3 Select a user account.
4 Click the Go to the main User Account page option.
5 Click the Change security settings option.
6 Remove the check beside the Turn on User Account Control (UAC) to make your computer more secure option.
7 Click OK.
8 Restart the computer.

UAC can be enabled once again by following the same steps.

23 February 2007

We must point out that London Control does not officially support Windows Vista at the current time. Whilst it does appear to be possible to install London Control and LCVoice on a Windows Vista machine, some customers have experienced problems in doing so that we haven't yet been able to resolve.

Vista appears not to support the voice recognition software that LCVoice was designed to use (SAPI v5.1). However, it seems that it will run successfully with the version that comes built-in with Vista (v8.0).

If you are having difficulties with installing or running London Control or LCVoice on Windows Vista, it is worth noting the following:

  • You may need to be logged in as an administrator to install and run London Control and LCVoice. In particular, it may be advisable to log in with administrator rights when first running the software, to ensure that the serial numbers can be stored correctly.

  • When installing, always install from your original CD first. Run London Control at least once and enter your personal serial number. Then install the latest update disk that you have, or the latest patch (version 1.3). Then install LCVoice.

  • Check that you have the English Recogniser Version 8.0 selected in the Speech settings accessible from Control Panel.
