Latest News 25 June 2008 The Scottish FIR has now been updated to AIRAC 6/2008, once again courtesy of Dave Moss, and is available for download from the website. Please go to the Scottish FIR page for more details. 19 June 2008 Unfortunately our forum is now under constant bombardment from spoof users trying to register and it is now affecting our ability to run the forum successfully. The problem is now so bad that we have new users trying to register at the rate of several per minute, all through the day and night. Because the php bulletin board software is so insecure there is not much we can do about this until we can migrate the forum to something better. Unfortunately this will take some time. At the moment our only defence is to block offending IP addresses from accessing the forum. As a consequence, the list of blocked addresses is growing and growing, so if any genuine users have difficulty accessing the forum please let us know and we will do our best to rectify the situation. We are also finding that we have to shut the forum at times - particularly at night - as we just can't keep up with the volume of hits that we have. Although the spoof users can't post messages, they do frequently try to advertise extremely unsavoury websites, and we are determined not to allow the London Control forum to degenerate in this way. As the problem is now so widespread, we assume the spoof users are originating from some virus-driven robot that has, in the last week or so, infected a high proportion of the PCs around the world. Presumably this robot looks for phpBB forums to blast and then keeps on going until it's either banned or removed from the infected machine. 30 May 2008 The London Control Data Update for June 2008 is now available. This brings the adaptation data fully up-to-date to AIRAC 6/2008 (5 June 2008). This quarter sees changes in the western area of the London TMA, with new airspace introduced to the north of Southampton and consequent changes to the sectors in that area and further north. We've also expanded our coverage of regional airports and included approach control for East Midlands and Leeds/Bradford, as well as Thames Radar, which covers London City and Biggin Hill. The Update CD also includes the latest version of the Scottish FIR data, courtesy of Dave Moss, and this has been expanded to include approach positions for Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen. For more information, please visit the Updates page. If you would like to purchase the Update, please go to the buy now page. There are only a few remaining subscribers to the updates, and they will receive their copies in the next few days. We will be e-mailing subscribers to let them know to expect their copy soon. 21 March 2008 The Scottish FIR has now been updated to AIRAC 3/2008, once again courtesy of Dave Moss, and is available for download from the website. Please go to the Scottish FIR page for more details. 16 March 2008 The London Control Data Update for March 2008 is now available. This brings the adaptation data fully up-to-date to AIRAC 3/2008 (13 March 2008). Once again, there have been few airspace changes in the London FIR in the last quarter, so we've taken advantage of the lull to extend the scope of London Control. We've added four new controllable ATS units, covering Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff and Liverpool Airports. These are quite challenging approach positions that greatly add to the simulation. We've also added over 1,000 new repetitive and ad-hoc flights to the flight plan database, including the first Singapore Airlines A380 services to and from Heathrow. For more information, please visit the Updates page. If you would like to purchase the Update, please go to the buy now page. There are only a few remaining subscribers to the updates, and they will receive their copies in the next few days. We will be e-mailing subscribers to let them know to expect their copy soon. 26 February 2008 We are very pleased to announce that AviaScan in Germany have produced a data package covering all of the German FIRs. This fantastic add-on for London Control covers the en-route and approach sectors of Bremen, Langen, Munich, Karlsruhe and Maastricht ATC centres. These include 118 sectors that can be actively controlled, 125 aerodromes and airfields, more than 12,000 flights and 3,500 waypoints and fixes. The package includes a 368 page Sector Information Manual, a German-language version of the London Control User Guide, and full run-time help. For more information visit AviaScan's website, at: www.aviascan.de The data has been produced with the full co-operation of DFS - Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH, the German ATC service provider. 26 February 2008 We are pleased to announce that a new patch has been released which will raise London Control to version 1.4. This patch includes all the changes that have been made to the software in recent times, and includes the voice recognition function as part of the main software. To download the patch, or to find out more about it, go to the version 1.4 download page. 25 February 2008 We have completed the revamp of our products and are pleased to announce that London Control now includes the voice recognition function as part of the basic software. This means that it is no longer necessary to purchase LCVoice as a separate add-on. While we have adjusted the price slightly to take account of this change, the new price of £34.95 represents a considerable saving over the combined cost of the original products. The new version 1.4 software also includes a few new functions and bug fixes. Combining the voice recognition into the main software should also resolve some of the problems that people have experienced when trying to install and run LCVoice under Windows Vista. For existing customers, we will be issuing a patch of the version 1.4 software shortly. 19 February 2008 We have decided to have a slight revamp of our product range and prices. Because of this, LCVoice has been temporarily withdrawn from sale. Further news will be released shortly. 10 December 2007 The London Control Data Update for December 2007 is now available. This brings the adaptation data fully up-to-date to AIRAC 13/2007 (20 December 2007). There have only been minor changes to the airspace in recent months, mainly because of the transfer of London Terminal Control to the Swanwick Centre. Because of this we have taken the opportunity to update the flight plan database by adding over 1,000 new flights and removing some of the oldest flights. For more information, please visit the Updates page. We are in the process of mailing this update to subscribers. If you would like to purchase the Update, please go to the buy now page. Please note that, for a number of reasons, it is no longer possible to subscribe to the quarterly updates in advance. From now on these can only be bought individually when they are released each March, June, September and December. 24 September 2007 There have been very few changes to UK airspace over the summer months this year. For this reason we have decided NOT to issue an LCData Update for September 2007. This is the first time ever that we have not produced a quarterly update, but we decided that it was better to carry over the few changes that have taken place and produce a bumper issue in December. For those who have subscribed to the quarterly updates, we will, of course, extend the subscriptions to take account of the missed issue. We will e-mail all the subscribers individually so that they know where they stand. Otherwise, normal service will be resumed in December. 17 July 2007 Unfortunately we have been suffering a number of problems with our e-mail service in the last few days. Not only have we been inundated with spam messages, various spammers are using return addresses in their spam to give the impression that the messages are from the londoncontrol.com domain. This results in us receiving thousands of "undeliverable mail" responses each day. On top of this, our ISP has developed the habit of losing genuine e-mails that we should have received. If you have tried to e-mail us in the last few days and have received no reply, please try again. It is likely that your message has been lost in the general turmoil, and not that we are ignoring you. Finally, please be assured that we do not send out spam messages to our customers or anyone else. The only messages you are ever likely to receive from us will only contain news about London Control (such as when an update is issued). 18 June 2007 The London Control Data Update for June 2007 is now available. This brings the adaptation data fully up-to-date to AIRAC 6/2007 (7 June 2007). The main change this time is that Manchester's runways have been redesignated 05L/R and 23L/R, due to the gradual change in magnetic variation. See the Updates page for more information. We are in the process of mailing this update to subscribers. Please also note that, for a number of reasons, it is no longer possible to subscribe to the quarterly updates in advance. From now on these can only be bought individually when they are released each March, June, September and December. 4 April 2007 The latest security update for Windows XP, which Microsoft have released today (KB925902), seems to cause London Control to cease working. It results in an error which begins, "The system DLL user32.dll was relocated in memory." This is a fault in the Microsoft-supplied user32.dll file, which has been replaced with a new version. There is a solution available on the Microsoft website, which can be found here: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=925902 You will need to follow the link under the heading of "Known Issues" (reference 935448) which takes you to here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935448/ Although this latter page relates to problems with the Realtek HD Audio Control Panel, it also applies to London Control (and presumably other applications). Follow the instructions on this page and download the 935448 package under the heading of "Resolution". Follow the on-screen instructions. 3 April 2007 We have uploaded the new version of the Scottish FIR data, which has been updated courtesy of Dave Moss, Ron King and Steve Martin. The new data can be downloaded by existing London Control customers free of charge, by going to the Scottish FIR page. 24 March 2007 The London Control Data Update for March 2007 is now available. This brings the adaptation data fully up-to-date to AIRAC 3/2007 (15 March 2007). The main changes in this issue are to the LACC Hurn sectors. The airspace around Hurn has been redesigned, a brand new sector introduced (Sector 22), and we have taken the opportunity to include the 'Hurn Low' sector (Sector 21) for the first time. See the Updates page for more information. This update also includes a fully up-to-date version of the Scottish FIR, courtesy of Dave Moss, Ron King and Steve Martin. This will also be made available for free download from the website as soon as we can upload it. We are in the process of mailing this update to subscribers. Please also note that, for a number of reasons, it is no longer possible to subscribe to the quarterly updates in advance. From now on these can only be bought individually when they are released each March, June, September and December. 24 March 2007 Despite the fact that we do not officially support Windows Vista, our customers inform us that it is possible to successfully install and run both London Control and LCVoice on Vista. This can be done by disabling UAC (User Account Control) when installing the programs and entering the serial numbers. UAC can be enabled again once this has been done. To disable UAC using the Control Panel: 1 Open the Control Panel. UAC can be enabled once again by following the same steps. 23 February 2007 We must point out that London Control does not officially support Windows Vista at the current time. Whilst it does appear to be possible to install London Control and LCVoice on a Windows Vista machine, some customers have experienced problems in doing so that we haven't yet been able to resolve. Vista appears not to support the voice recognition software that LCVoice was designed to use (SAPI v5.1). However, it seems that it will run successfully with the version that comes built-in with Vista (v8.0). If you are having difficulties with installing or running London Control or LCVoice on Windows Vista, it is worth noting the following:
12 January 2007 We are pleased to announce that a new patch has been released which will raise London Control to version 1.3. This patch includes all the changes that have been made to the software in recent times, including the ability to select more than two controlled sectors. To download the patch, or to find out more about it, go to the version 1.3 download page. Click on Features for more information, or Buy Now if you wish to purchase London Control. London Control is a product of DM Aviation Limited.
